Hi all, I'm Tom and live just outside of Lincoln.

After driving a wide rang of vehicles for the past few years I have managed to pick up a 1997 VW Polo 1.6L Saloon, with 32,000 miles for the bargain price of -£1. The car belonged to a member of my family who decided to give up driving and very kindly gifted the car to me. I then found a £1 in the ashtray so the car is making me money already biggrin

It's been a while since I've driven an "older" car but have to say that I'm already enjoying something with a little more feel to it. I know it's never going to be an amazing handling machine, but it will do me as a daily driver for a little while.

We also have a Dacia Logan MCV 1.5dci Laureate and a Proton Gen2. Hardly the most inspiring bunch of cars I know, but between them they serve us very well. Having been a long time lurker here I hope to finally start participating a little more!

I am disappointed, I opened this expecting to see something involving Lincolns and members, like:

Anyway, welcome to PH.

Welcome smile

What is your opinion of the Dacia? I remember people were all over these when they first came out.

To be honest the Dacia is what it is. It doesn't try to be anything that it isn't but having said that we really do enjoy it. It's the top spec model and comes with cruise, speed limiter, air con, sat nav, Bluetooth, etc. It really is surprisingly well equipped. It's not wanting for performance 90% of the time, will happily sit at 90mph (on our private test track), and never returns less than 55mpg, 75 if driven carefully. The boot is enormous and is generally full of all kinds of stuff, or two dogs. Can't see us wanting to get rid of it at anytime soon.

I really want to hate them, but the spec, price and everything all looks spot on, looks like a really decent car. Maybe not as flashy as some, but still not bad! Kia seem to be really upping their game too, and they used to be cheap ste.

Welcome from a fellow Lincs dweller, and whilst I don't want to take over your thread, Lincs members should look out for a new monthly car meet at Doddington Hall, starting March. Details to follow in the events section.

Will have to look out for this one, even though our two are hardly going to be the most interesting examples to show up!

Hey! Another Lincolnshire based member here. I live in Sleaford but have a mate at Scampton(Grey Focus ST) so can be around there sometimes too! laugh

Shameless excuse to post my current vehicle of choice:

I would definitely be up for a meet at Doddington Hall and have quite a few friends who would too so I'll keep an eye out for that smile

Thanks chaps, will appreciate your support!

It's going to be the first Saturday of every month, 9am until 12, for classic and sports cars and bikes. Hope to finalise details next week and get some marketing in place before the end of the month all being well.

I had one of those Polos while I was at uni. The shocks were tired so it got called the Pogo. It was total ste, but I never had to do any maintenance to it. Bought it for £650, thrashed it for 16000 miles, sold it for £575 a year later. Great car
