Wiper park switch griff 500

I have just bought a 94 Griffth 500 and currently restoring some interior, one part that seems to keep catching me out is this "park switch" for the wipers. Does anyone know what it is, where it supposed to be located?
Have to admit love the car and couldn't really care if the wipers work anyway!

Hi Peter, the wiper park switch is located on the wiper motor on the nearside under the bonnet, it's about £5 from main dealer. Two minute job to fit!

Hi Peter,

I had the same problem, didnt need to buy a new one just took the old one to bits, cleaned it up (then wrapped it in PTFE tape to aid water tightness) and hey presto worked a treat!!

If the intermittent and self park is not working at all there is a relay that could have come loose in the passenger footwell. May be worth checking that out first (easier job than removing the switch)..

Had a quick look last night, im guessing the wiper motor needs removed and the park switch is in below?
I will check the relays as well to see which one controls the park!

Hi Peter,

Thats right, take off the horse shoe bracket and slacken off the brass nut that leads out of the motor (towords the wiper shaft) then you can twist the motor round. Unplug the switch and then take off the three leads that come out of the motor (blue, yellow and red i think) but remember where they came from!!!
The switch can then be removed. It is held on with a metal clip you kind of have to wiggle it and slide it off towards you (cant really describe it any better) you will probably find it is full of water or rust! again its a bit fiddaly if you choose to take it apart or as someone suggested earlier you could buy a replacement?

Dont know which the relay is. My mates 4.3 had an obvious big blue relay which was not seated properly and this fixed the problem. Mine was the switch. i would suggest pushing in all the relays on the board (i dont think it is one that is hanging off the ECU)

Thanks for the detailed description. I will check it out later, my bet is that its the switch rusted like you suggested. I know the layout of the relays in the fuse box and in the bible II there is no description of which is the wiper stop! anyway i think from past attempts the loose loom relays are for the fuel pump which i changed last week!

The relay in my Griff is Blue with the code 9753498780 and pin locations like this;
8-
4 | 5- 6 |
1 | 2|

Pin number 1 is only half the width of the others and a bit shorter. I also think it's a lucas item because of symbol across one corner.

Its the second Relay in from the left, second row down. But this is from memory so excuse me if I'm wrong.

I have checked through and the Park switch seems to be good. When i went looking for the relay there was none so im guessing thats the problem! Do you know where to buy these from?

Sadly I haven't a clue.

If it is the relay you will have the same symptoms I had when mine had fallen out.

Park doesn't work. As soon as you switch off the wipers they stop - wherever they are.
Intermittent doesn't do anything at all.

Sorry I can't help right now but I'll have a dig and see what I can find.
