Just had to get 3 new tyres, 1 was new 1500 miles ago due to puncture, got 2 identical tyres for the rear.

Didn't think and got a different brand front tyre to match my replacement one. Its directional and been fitted backwards, will I die or is it ok till garages open again on Monday?

It probably wont disperse water as well backwards as forwards so there will be slightly more chance of aquaplaning than there should be. I've no idea whether we're talking 5% more or 50% more, though.

It is January. If the tyres aren't winter ones, you are going to spin off and die on the first wet roundabout anyway.

So why worry?

Is the unmatched tyre directional too? If not swap it with with the other side

Sadly it is, thought of that already. It matches the one directional one for the front.

Fronts match each other and backs match each other.

This is not inherently unsafe, just take a little extra care until you get it rectified. I did a whole test day at Castle Combe with a tyre the wrong way 'round, didn't even increase my lap times (it was dry though...)

You will die. Not only will it not disperse water, it'll have the opposite effect and actually draw water onto the surface of the tyre.

It was probably good knowing you.
