Rovergauge

I recently bought the Rovergauge cable & CD and all appears to be working fine.


One small question to anybody that knows :-


Can I leave the cable connected to the car long term, to avoid re connecting with the rubbish connector each time in the footwell.

Reason I ask is that I 'think' I remember a post asking the same question, and the answer was no !

(but I cant find the post and I really want to leave it connected )

The 3 pin connector took 3 attempts to connect (pins on car pointing all over the place)and doing it in the footwell in a narrow garage is a challenge.

I will leave it connected and leave the USB end somewhere accessible (with a cover if I can think of something)

It should not be an issue- the origional OBD socket had a loop back plug in it to prevent any electrical signals being picked up with the open ended cable, but this is frequently missing anyway. The RoverGauge cable has the same effect as the loopback anyway, so its fine to leave it connected.

OP, could you give me a clue as to where you got the cable and CD from please? I assume all you need apart from that is a working laptop?

Once up and working, what can be done to the car using this software?

It says in the ad it'll work on Windows 7 & XP. I'm pretty sure the OS on my crappy old laptop is Windows 98

Its a pretty simple program- I think it will work on 98. You can download it here to have a play. You need to extract the files into a folder, then simply run the rovergauge program from inside the folder. It will run, but obviously it cant connect without a cable.
