Just dug out my good old trusty copy of FSX Standard edition ready to install on my new computer to find the second disk has gone walk about. Does anybody know anywhere I can download an image of the second disk? I have the first and my certificate of authenticity just no second disk.
Thanks
Thanks
Indeed, worth checking Steam though as it is available on there now, with other games I have been able to activate it on steam even though I had purchased it before, but as it is improved, you may not be ale to do that.
Might be worth the 20quod they are asking for the improved version.

Had a feeling it might be the case. But luckily perseverance and a now upside down room resulted in me finding the second disk eventually. Got it installed on my surface pro 3. Run's quite well, with all the graphics turned up to ultra high it still maintains a steady 35-40 fps. Very pleased.

Wow.....running at what resolution though? I didn't realise the SF Pro3 could be used for relatively demanding games. I'm hoping to get one in a couple of months, I take it you like it then?
I'd be interested to know that too.I am currently running it on:
I7 4770k clocked to 4.4Ghz
16GB RAM (2133)
MSI GTX 780 3GB
Installed on a solid state drive.
ORBX worldwide and ORBX England installed as scenery add ons.
Over open country, water and desert etc. flying the A2A Accusim P51D or Mk2 Spitfire it maintains anywhere from 60 to well over 140fps. fly over any major detail city, London, LA, Dallas etc. and it does dip into single figures, with processor temperatures nudging 70deg C. I everything and I mean everything is at 100% other than traffic density which I maintain at around 20% so I can actually get a word in edgeways with ATC.
I could probably get better use out of the multi core by switching to windows 8.1 as it has a better marshaler than 7 which may help as I assume the surface pro is 8.1?

That's only at 1024 X 768, not a massive resolution, but as something to kill sometime on the move more than adequate. I have my I7 based desktop at home for serious stuff but that could do with a more up to date GPU. Obviously the tablet's never going to bring the best performance being limited by using the Intel shared GPU but the performance it does offer is very reasonable. The only other thing is with FSX running the fans do tend to kick into overdrive and the whole thing can get a bit warm which isn't surprising given the strain it's under and the tight package of the SF pro. In answer to your second question, yes I do like it
I was a bit weary of the steep price even with student discount on top. Only went for the I5 model with 8GB ram and 256GB SSD, as much as I would have liked the I7 version I just couldn't justify the increase in price. But overall the I5 still manages to keep up with everything i've thrown at it so far including the full Adobe CS6 Master Collection. But I will say don't let the steep price put you off, you really are getting what you pay for with it. It's a very good quality well rounded peace of kit. LeeThr said:

Thanks........I'm quite intrigued by it after my wife put me onto it as a replacement for my ageing Dell laptop and cracked Ipad! Just can't quite justify the prices for the I7 one at the moment, even though I get the educational discount via my wife. Planning on waiting and either getting one cheap when the 4 is announced or going for the new one. Thanks for the detail, it's good to know that I'll be able to get my World of Tanks fix whilst I'm 'working', cheers! In answer to your second question, yes I do like it

No problem
this actually replaced my dell laptop as well. I was after something smaller & lighter than my 17inch laptop to carry arround uni all day with me. I wanted something tablet based but studying computer science I wanted something that wasn't going to be limited as to it's functionality by a mobile based O/S hence why the SF Pro just fitted the bill nicely. I agree with you as much as I wanted the I7 model even with the student discount I just couldn't justify the price increase over the I5. If you have any more questions about it or just want to know a bit more feel free to send me a PM i'll answer everything as best as I can. HTH
