That´s the fella. There were at least 2 Fairey Deltas, this is the lesser known Delta 1, but IIRC it was the first ever British aircraft with a Delta Wing.

Peter Twiss was the pilot in the Fairey Delta when it broke the 1000mph barrier.

He went on to race powerboats, including mine. Its my only claim to fame.

That was the Fairey Delta 2 - quite a different aircraft.

It is on record that

a) Marcel Dassault was very impressed by the FD2

and

b) was absolutely gobsmacked when he discovered neither Fairey or the Air Ministry had any plans to turn it into an operational fighter.
