BMW X6M your thoughts
Discussion
I have always liked them but much like my old 4.8 X5(obviously far less powerful but the same type of thing) there isn't really that much point to a car that has that much power yet weighs so much, for me you are better buying something like a M5/M6 that has all the power yet drives really well too and is far more focussed.
If I won the lottery I wouldn't mind one in the garage though, saw a X5M yesterday they are a rare motor too.

There's a first gen X5, 4.8 litre local to where I live, and he put his foot down, the noise was awesome. Had a nice bassy growl to it.If I won the lottery I wouldn't mind one in the garage though, saw a X5M yesterday they are a rare motor too.
Well I certainly don't feel a lot of love for the X6M from you M Power guys.
I have not driven the car. Gary has. Best car he has ever driven was his summation. Fuel well I reckon on his commute will be around 20mpg. It has 3 years left on its service pack so that should help with running costs. Tyres are new. I guess I'll get to drive it in the next couple of weeks.
I am slightly amused that they have been able to convert Gary from an Audi guy to a BMW guy. His other half has an E46 B3S Alpina Estate and his daughter a Z4M Coupe.

I would have liked to have experienced that engine in something a little more driver orientated too.

The problem for the X6M is it's not only a very long way from the original "M" concept, but also the X6 itself isn't particularly well regarded (due to being a massive vehicle that can only carry four people). I'm sure it's fun to drive though, in a kind of "get out of my way, peasants" fashion...I have not driven the car. Gary has. Best car he has ever driven was his summation. Would have been better getting an X6 M50D as just as quick & returns an easy 40mpg. Not entering the oil vs petrol debate but given this is a soft roader type vehicle i think the oil option is more relevant.
I had the newer X5 M50D variant for about 6 weeks & was one of the most giggle inducing cars i've ever driven.

I see no reason why you would have an X6 over and X5...
Exactly. It's pointless. If the X5 M was available with a third row of seats, I'd probably get one (debadged, of course - it is not an M car, despite the engine).Vixpy1 said:
