Parking in EV bays?
Discussion
I was wondering what the legalities are of parking in EV bays not in an EV obviously? They seem little used and sometimes they are the only spaces empty in busy times...
Is this the inlet I need for a charging station connection? Ideally I'd like to get one as cheap as possible and cut it into the bumper of my car so i can connect the charger cable so it looks like it's on charge and ta da easy parking and no ones none the wiser.
Thanks,

Thanks,
Check out the signs round the bays, I thought the ones in our local multistorey were EV only, but on closer inspection they're EV only up until 10am, after that they are fair game. As a result, they are usually the ones I make a beeline for.
Must admit I'm firmly of the opinion that if you can't make it to the shops and back without refuelling, you probably need to consider something a bit more appropriate.

I was at ikea last night at Thurrock and there was a 118d bmw and a Honda civic both parked in the EV bay. A call out was made but no one arrived to move there cars. When I left I saw the bmw occupants depart, the f
kers just left there trolley on the path. Last time I was there a leaf driver parked up behind a non EV car really tightly and went into ikea.

We should have more EV bays. Every time someone with a non EV parks there, the DVLA should automatically shred their licences. It has the effect of removing the entitled people from the roads and onto buses where they can moan.

Not entirely sure what's more entitled than needing a special parking space because the car you bought out of choice can't go more than 10 miles without needing more juice. Would I be correct if I said it's worse than parking in disabled bays or children and parent bays. A big problem is that stores put them close to the front doors as it's easier to retro fit the mains cable. I'm sure if you put the bay's at the other end of the car park w
kers would still park there out of spite.

I don't see how it's the fault of EV owners. They've bought the cars, and other companies are putting in the infrastructure. That's the way that they've chosen to do it. Why are EV owners to blame here? Seriously, get a grip of yourself. Chicane-UK said:

Probably becuase they bought a massively compromised car either out of some misguided assumption it was going to save the planet, or that the fact that most manufacturers can't give the fecking things away means they got a good deal - either way, I fail to see why they should be entitled to a special parking space. We've got a big enough sense of entitlement in this country as it is frankly....Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
