Apologies if this has already been posted but I couldn't see it.

BBC2 seems to have have had a late schedule change and are showing episode 2 of Racing Legends, about Graham Hill tonight at 9:00pm.

MOTORING: Racing Legends
On: BBC 2
Date: Sunday 4th January 2015
Time: 21:00 to 22:00 (1 hour long)

Graham Hill. Episode 2.
Jeremy Irons examines the life of one of his heroes, motor racing champion Graham Hill - and drives the cars that are part of the Hill legend. Irons tells the story of how Hill rose to the top of his sport and also became a hugely popular and charismatic public figure. Along the way, Irons meets members of Hill's family, close friends and rivals -and gets a driving master class from Hill's son Damon. Packed with rare archive and home-movie footage, the programme gives an intimate and enthralling portrait of a complex man who lived life at full-throttle, in an era when death and injury were an ever-present danger.
(Stereo, Widescreen, Subtitles, Part 2, Audio Described, 5 Star)

Well a great programme I thought. I wonder how many people missed it, seeing as the Radio Times listed a programme about the Royal Family at that time.

Part 3 with Paul Hollywood meeting John Surtees is next Sunday at the same time.

For us oldies, in the 1990s it was weird (and quite rewarding) seeing Damon race with his dad's helmet colours.

Caught this by chance last night, good programme. Worth catching up on iPlayer if you've missed it.

Apparently none of this series is being put on iPlayer. Obviously the copyright issues surrounding this series precludes it from being shown on iPlayer.

The copyright surrounding F1 footage from about pre '74 is not the most straight forward thing. Lots of people think that they own it. Lots of people are mistaken.

The issue is how many are willing to front up huge (well into six figures with both sides combined at the court door) legal fees in defending their claim, especially when often it is a case of people setting up shell companies from which to issue their claims so that, even if someone did defeat them, they would 'lose' in the end having had to pay out £100,000's for their own legal fees that cannot be recovered from a paper only entity.

I would say the situation is unclear right up to 1980/81 when Bernie took charge.

By the way, there is a thread on the Graham Hill programme in the TV section. Odd now that TV rights are being discussed in "Motorsport" and the racing and its dangers in "TV" smile

I'll have a look at that thread then, but likely will refrain from further comment on the rights side of things, a bit of a question of knowing a lot, but not enough wink

I thought this was the most appropriate place to post a heads up about a motorsport related programme; but then Robin's thread in the TV section 10 minutes before the programme started seemed to get the attention. C'est la vie!

It's a real shame that the BBC has used such a good programme as an unannounced last-minute replacement, especially as it's not on iPlayer or scheduled for a repeat.

That was actually his son Josh's helmet. Damon seems to use that himself these days though rather than the black/white version he and his dad used when in F1.

Not sure if London Rowing Club has ever changed its colours, but they race in (admittedly fairly) dark blue and white.
