'65 911 for half a mill?

Had a chat last night with a chap claiming, in his opinion his ' 65 911, apparently one of the first imported by Porsche to the UK, will be worth £500k once finished ( in the process of full nut n bolt resto).
I know prices have been going crazy, but in my world ( which maybe out of date granted) a good 2.7 RS is what, £300- £350k ? A good 'S' £150 -£200k?
Am I out of touch, or is his appraisal correct? It seems madness for a bogo early car to be worth that much?
One of the 901's of '64, yes, but half a mill on a 2.0 SWB?.?

the car you're describing, £200k? £300k? hard to value, but not a half-mil... you just have to question what other 'historically important' pork there is out there at that point.
Regardless of how early the 911 is I doubt it would make £500k -unless it has some amazing provenance......
in which case it could easily.
Steve McQueen's 1971 model did after all make £820k......but about 700k of that value was the McQueen effect.
It would be interesting to see what Seinfeld's early 911 would make at auction- believed to be the first ever
Porsche with the '911' designation......he spent about £200k restoring it (on top of the purchase price)-
considering the car was previously owned by Ferry Porsche I think one could safely say that car would easily be £500k plus.......

You basically confirmed what I suspected.
Saw an estimated £350k guide on a 2.7 rs at the Coys auction 2nd Dec. Dont know what it made in the end but did not realise these were £600!!
He bought the car years ago for £16k, and drove it in all weathers for three years before pulling it in for a resto once they started on the up.
Amazing the 64 cars are making huge money, as my friend sold chassis 131 (i believe) for around £130k two years back, freshly restored ready to go.

Saw an estimated £350k guide on a 2.7 rs at the Coys auction 2nd Dec. Dont know what it made in the end but did not realise these were £600!!

Chassis 131 would be an early 500 car so premium for that one too.You basically confirmed what I suspected.
