I`ve stated fitting bits back onto the Taimar engine, and found this morning that the alternator will not tip forward enough to fit the drive belt, I assume this is because the alloy rocker covers I`ve fitted are a little taller than the standard covers, these are needed as I`ve fitted roller rockers.
So my question is, can I just purchase a slightly longer drive belt, the new belt that I have has a part number 6233MC 483BE, this is the standard belt.
I assume a few have already covered this problem before after fitting the alloy rocker covers, any help appreciated, and if someone wants 2 off brand new standard belts give me a shout!

I would just go to a local motor factors and ask for a slightly longer belt, but as everything is computerised now and common sense seems to be a thing of the past I wont botherhehe

Hi Clive,

From the receipts I've got (no access to car at the mo...) you need Gates 6225MC (it also mentions AV x 10 x 1125)

Typical, minutes after posting come up with a successful google search,

http://www.bearingshopuk.co.uk/belts/automotive-be...

length of outside of standard belt is 1320mm and 10mm wide, and have chosen a 1350mm belt to try, a handy website indeed.

Apologies, might have misinformed you there............6234MC does indeed ring a bell (1350 mm)

It must be the best part of 20 years ago since I found this problem when I put alloy covers on my Taimar. Luckily it was before computers and the death of common sense, think I just went into the local motor factors and bought the next size or two up. Glad it is sorted now.

Oliver.

Finally checked on the car, you need 6233MC.... (allthough 6234 will probably do, as its slightly longer)
