Hey Guys,

If you haven't noticed well then you must have too much money!
As I've seen petrol down as low as £1.07 a litre now!

What is going on?

Im not complaining but just wondered if anybody knew why its dropped so much?

In broad summary, deliberate oversupply by OPEC to bring the Russian federations economy to its knees. It's working.

Could this cause a war ultimately? And why are they trying to bring Russia down?

To be honest I've never heard of this at all.

Maybe they should think twice though before trying to bring a country like Russia down!

Do you think it will last?

War? Not a big one, they're a thing of the past, maybe a small one with Russia and the rest of the World backing two small states to go at each other. Or Russia might just go and lob a few shells at one of the more obscure ex sov states just to distract the average Russian away from the fact that the economy is tanking again.

And why? Because the rest of the world are reminding Putin that he/Russia is not all powerful and can't just do as he pleases. It's handy for the West/OPEC states that Russia's valuable exports all revolve around oil/gas. Maybe Russia will diversify now but I doubt it.

It's also causing issues in America with the fracking companies, it costs less to buy the petrol at the pump than it does to frack it out of the ground!

Putin needs to be reminded that he can't do as he pleases.

It will last until the Saudis or the American fracking corporations shout at the US government hard enough about raising prices again.

It was better when prices were higher as less cars on the roads.

We had a 20p per litre discount to use at Tesco today. My car cares not what it's fed so today I filled up at 87.9 per litre. I'd hazard a guess at 2002 being the last time that happened.

Don't worry if they're still low in March, Gideon will increase the fuel duty to try and recover some of the money he is losing in tax receipts from the pump and the North Sea.

Only thing that might stop him is the imminent election☺

Saw 106.9 in Birmingham yesterday... if it carries on at this rate we'll be at 99p a litre in a couple of weeks!

I doubt its made any noticeable difference to the number of cars on the road.

£15 saving on a full tank for someone who can afford to run a car legally in the first place is pretty small beer...

2009 apparently. I knew it was at least 2006 because that's what I was paying when I passed my test.

Within the next 3-6 weeks I would think.
