We are planning going to the Singapore GP this year and then have 10 days in Thailand on the way back. Looking for some advice as to the best areas to view from. Also are the evening concerts 'free' provided you have a ticket for that day. Any general advice would be appreciated too, I suspect we will pull the whole tour together ourselves rather than go through an agent especially as we have the add on holiday bit at the end

Thanks

When I went a few years ago, the concerts were included with our(grandstand) tickets.

A good tip I got back then which many still be valid was that if you went to the main concert venue as soon as the track gates opened, they gave out a limited number of 'VIP' wrist bands for that day. These enabled the holders to rock up to the concert at any time later on and walk right into a sectioned off area at the front with no queuing. Well worth doing.

We went in 2013. Got Grandstand tickets for the support races, free practice, and qualifying. Then a walkabout ticket for the actual race itself.

We wandered around most of the track / stands and watched the support races from each one to try to deterimine the best view / location. We ended up spending the race itself in a stand opposite the entrance to the pits, with a nice sea breeze coming in off the sea.

Once you are inside the fence the concerts were free. Although the timing of some of them meant that you probably couldn't get from a stand on the far side, to the stage and back without missing some of the track action.

Things to note, it's hot, damn hot. Drink lots, wear very light clothes, it's so humid almost any exercise results in you being drenched. We only went for the 4 days, so stayed on European time all weekend, so had breakfast at odd times, lunch at dinner time and evening meal in the middle of the night.

Don't bother with taxi's, the city is pretty much grid locked during the race weekend. Use the underground, it's cheap, fast, clean and air-conditioned.

The city itself is fantastic, clean, friendly and very interesting.

I want to go back cry

We went last year. We had a roving grandstand ticket, so we were in the Bay on Friday, T1 on Saturday and right by the main stage for the race. I'd probably do that again, but sit in the Bay on Sunday to get a good view of the fireworks, and sit by the main stage on the day when the act I most want to see is on.

The concerts are included as long as you hold a ticket for the relevant zone (check the circuit map). If you want to ride the Singapore Flyer, that's also only accessible if you have a ticket for the relevant zone IIRC.

It's a great event, the historic race in particular was fantastic, so don't just turn up for the F1. There's also loads of other stuff going on inside the circuit between races. My girlfriend, who isn't particularly into racing, thoroughly enjoyed it and wants to go again.

Singapore itself was a bit dull. We had afternoon tea in Raffles which was obviously very touristy but thoroughly enjoyable. Little India was probably the most interesting area to wander around and has some great places to grab a quick curry. The zoo is fantastic. Outside those bits, it's pretty much high rises and shopping malls.

Good idea to fit a holiday in, we continued on to Borneo which I'd highly recommend. Don't expect brilliant weather in Thailand in September - it's likely to be quite cloudy and wet, although still hot and a decent chance of some sunshine. Enjoy!

Thanks for the above
Those combination tickets look good value, well compared to Sunday only tickets.
Looks like in previous years the big name artistes appeared on the Pedang Stage so although you dont find out who is appearing until July i guess we need to factor that too
