Hi all - just looking fro a bot of advise before I start messing about with the keys.

I have both sets of keys and the emergency key for my 987 S, one key has always worked fine whilst the other one has stopped working, which I guessed needed a battery change, so I popped one in at the weekend and tried re-syncing it to no avail.

This morning when I went to leave for work, opened the car as usual with the key fob, opened the boot to drop bag in, got in car and nothing, the key wouldn't start the car. Tried the spare key with the new battery, and that one wouldn't unlock the car via the key fob, but that one does start the car!

Therefore at the moment, I have to use one to get in and the other to start....what's going on?

Is it just a case of re-syncing them both again?

Or should I switch the internals of the one that opens the door with the one that starts the car?????

Sounds like you may have a couple of key issues.

With the key that opens the doors but won’t start the car - this could be transponder related. The transponder communicates with your immobiliser and if its not working your key will open doors, go into ignition but you’ll find you wont be able to start the car.

With the key that will start the car, it sounds like a syncing issue. Various threads on how to sort this.

Porsche keys can be a little temperamental at times so just make sure all the contacts are aligned appropriately and everything fits together properly, a mis-aligned contact or dodgy connection in the key can cause all sorts of strange behaviours.

Hope you get it sorted soon.
