NI Registered car, bought in UK
Discussion
A car on NI plates, and says NI on the new keepers supplement was purchased from a garage in the UK. It's on NI plates.
I can't tax it online, it says it's an NI vehicle, so I will go to a post office and sort it out, but is there anything else I need to do?
Also, how'd I go about getting a UK plate on it?

NI is part of the UK.
Just send the V5C in as per normal, you'll get a Swansea one back with your mainland address on.

My Mx5 is on NI reg plate, it's not an issue.
Unless you wanna put it on retention and try to sell it as a "private plate" like some jokers I've seen selling NI reg'd cars in classifieds.

Do I have to put it on retention? I don't want it, and it's not a good one. I want the car back on a CK08XXX style plate. I suppose DVLA have to issue a new plate from the right age?
NI or mainland format plate is separate to NI or mainland address/Coleraine or Swansea V5C. You can just ask them to change the plate over.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
