I have been an ACO member for a number of years, the reason is simply to get a period of booking Le Mans before the great unwashed are let loose. However, each year the amount of time advantage has reduced plus the ACO website is always new and seldomly works. This year we only got 4 days advantage, most of which were the most frustrating 4 days of the year, trying to get the 'wonderful' new system to work and failing. Luckily I was able to get a response on the phone and booked the tickets (although no confirmation yet!!!)
Looking at the ticket website now, which is available to everyone and now works, it appears there are lots of availability for parking and stands. So, the questions remains - Is ACO membership worth it just to buy Le Mans tickets?

The major benefit to me is (was?) being able to buy camping/GA direct - allowing me to sort travel out independantly etc. and not being tied into "minimum 2 GA per camping" etc type operators in the past.

Last year I never actually got round to signing in/visiting the members lounge/bar up near the dunlop bridge. We went past twice - Once the queue was huge and the other was shut - so that was a bust. Certainly far less convenient than the old location in the village.

Having said that.....I went to book tickets this year, then went to check with my group to confirm numbers one last time...and by the time I had all the responses a day or so later I couldn't get Bleu Nord camping via ACO. So I booked with speed chills - very efficient, accommodated all the required variations in our party (assorted travel, single drivers etc) without any issue. They're setup for everyone to pay direct which is a bonus. I dont even think the end price will be that different if I don't renew ACO for this year and I too am struggling to justify why I would.

Saabman - I'm surprised you haven't got confirmation. I got mine within a couple of days and have downloaded the tickets already.

I phoned and got the order confirmation and client number, plus the seat numbers and parking location number. They also confirmed on the phone that the email confirmations will be in the new year. I have confirmation of the money leaving my account.

I seem to remember that in 2010 the system worked and I was able to book without issue.

Saabman - Looks like you're sorted then. I misunderstood the confirmation comment in brackets on your post.
