Im selling my S to buy a cerb... got this email today. The poor spelling, mention of shipping and general tone made alarm bells ring. Anyone agree this buyer isnt really a buyer? Or am I paranoid?

Had a load of these too. The senders email address is usually Nigerian.....an automotive 419 scam.
Must say...I nearly fell for it for....oooo....about a nanosecond.

If you do feel it justifies a reply, just let him know that you're not prepared to sell the car without him viewing it or having it professionally inspected due to the specialist nature of it.

That's what I did and, strangely enough, I didn't hear any more after that!

I saw something about this kind of scam recently, even if they send you a cheque/draft and it appears to have cleared and is in your account it can be withdrawn very easily.

Apologies for not remembering the exact mechanism of how they do it, but its a relatively simple loop hole in the way these things are cleared.

Any vet who wanted my bank details to wire me some money from Africa could **** off!
