I have a 1995 993 C4 and the alarm goes off intermittently for no reason.

I want to know how I can disconnect the alarm horn.

1) is it an OE UK H&P PA100 1000 or 2000?

If so, they are very sensitive to voltage 'drop'.

First thing I'd check is the bulb under the bonnet, the engine lid, and the glovebox (because they are easy).

I found that when I'd taken the bonnet bulb out, the alarm when locked would show a double-flash on the door leds, and after a random amount of time the alarm would go off.... this could be days or minutes.

What number of flashes do you get on the door leds upon locking?

2) if it isn't the OE alarm, take the car to a trusted alarm specialist, and get a new alarm fitted (late-issue Thatcham of course), as it will save you time and money in the long run.

Ah the intermittent 993 alarm problem.

If the boot light doesnt do it, try the following.

If you pull the stereo out, there is an earth cable that attaches to the righthand side of the stereo cradle. It's either come off or (if like mine) it was not contacting properly after I changed the stereo and must have dislodged it. Pulled it off, pushed her back on, and no issues whatsoever since. It was a bain getting up at 4AM because the alarm suddenly set itself off. Funny thing was it was weeks before it started to set the alarm off.

^^^^^ The above information was kindly imparted to me by 'POPE'. The all knowledge where the 993 is concerned. smile

When you are sure all 'interior' light bulbs are in, lock the car and count the door led flashes.

If it's approx 20 fast flashes, then settles down to one every 2? seconds, then the H&P is 'happy'.

If it's any other sequence, tell us what it is.
