Third party insurance
Discussion
For peace of mind I've been a member of the LCC since I started cycling in London, predominantly to take advantage of their third party insurance cover.
As they've increased their membership fee yet again I've had a look around for stand alone third party insurers and would be interested to know what options people use?
I just want a simple, zero excess policy for at least £5m. The best I've found is with these guys:
http://www.insure4sport.co.uk/cycleplan/summary.as... which costs just over £20 with their January discount/sale.
Has anyone used them, or does anyone else have any other suggestions? Obviously you never know how good an insurer is until you need to claim...
Thanks

Do you know if a organised sportive (e.g. Evans Ride It event) would be considered a race or would be covered under the £32 ride policy?pablo said:
Thanks. At £32 it's still more expensive than the stand-alone insurer, albeit less than the £38 the LCC want for membership. I appreciate it goes up to £10m but that's a pretty unusually high payout (I would think?)

Plus they do good things for young riders, support Olympians, lobby Governments etc. As far as purely insurance issues are concerned, the CTC are very good too by all accounts. I'd go with either of those two rather than a sports insurance broker purely based on the experiences and recommendations of others. As you say, you dont know how good they are until you need them, but loads of people have already used BC and CTC to good effect, I doubt Insure4Sport et al will be quite as committed.
