So one week ago my youngest rebel in training at the tender age of 3.5 years managed to break the osf window of his mommy's new tiguan by accidentally throwing a stone at the car rather than his older brother.. roll on today and the new glass is finally fitted after it took vw ages to finally source one (whats new)

I'd never heard of nationwide and no surprise as compared to autoglass these guys are small fry and only have 50 technicians nationwide and are preferred supplier only to hastings and zurich (funny the things you get to know in 40 minutes speaking to a guy that's done the same thing for 30 years).

im a bit particular so I even took some time off work to ensure that the 20 something year old yoof would be a kosher job

much to my surprise the guy came on time and he was closer to 60 than 20 and better still took real pride in his craft.... I was worried about glass shards being left between the two skins but he'd fabricated an extension for his vacuum (brilliant red numatic) that sucked up almost all the bits from the deepest darkest corners of the door.

he didn't mind me watching over him and was a joy to watch...I loved that he took pride in his work and explained what he was doing...he even gave tips on how to remove the residue from the duct tape that was left on the trim (id previously used wd40 but he suggested white spirits)

anyways, hats off to nationwide motorglass and for those with policies with zurich and hastings that live in the south east... ask for colin when you call up needing a new piece of glass!

This is encouraging, as I've got a small crack in my windscreen, am currently insured with Hastings, and was thinking of getting it replaced come renewal.

I've always found Highway to be superior than Autoglass in my professional dealings with them.

I'm insured by admiral and they used nationwide to replace my cracked windscreen, did a good job. It was raining on the day so they couldn't do it outside so either offered to reschedule or I could go to their depot where they could do it inside.
Went to the depot as it was not far from me they did a good job fairly quickly while I sat in their waiting room.

Yes. He used to run his own firm a few years back.

Fairly sure it was Nationwide who cut the Trim too short and glued over the Visible Vin on one of mine a few years back. Clowns.

But Well done Colin nonetheless.

All I can offer is avoid national windscreens like the plague.

Damaged the A pillars, roof, bonnet and scuttle panel attempting to fit a windscreen to my E36.
Then tried to cover it up by changing the sign off sheet to say it was there before they started.

Not only that but they had it repaired and the painter painted up to and against the trim and side repeaters, leaving horrible lacquer lines and when they polished it after painting they decided having the windows and sunroof open would help, leaving my interior and all the black trim covered in polish.

This is the reality of being sent the insurer's favoured repairer. You just don't know who, or what you're gonna get on the day. Never mind an E36; a hard job, an easy job; poor workmanship is unacceptable.

Hi Glassman, do you know if Ford use any particular company for their warranty work or is it up to the dealer. There's a fault in the screen of my new Fiesta ST and I'm dreading leaving it at the dealer in case someone bodges the replacement. Mind you it's been nearly 2 months since the supplying dealer took pics of the screen and I've heard nothing since frown .

Autoglass:
Replaced my previous volvo screen, broke every clip on the scuttle trim and stuck the old clips back with mastic,
Cut the power feed to the in car camera removing the old screen (he did admit to this though)

Fast fwd 6 months
New screen required after large stone chip,
I attended branch in taunton
The fitter speedily replaced screen and asked that I wait 1hr before driving off,
I duly waited but just before leaving I thought to look under the bonnet, low and behold all the clips on the scuttle broken and mastic holding the panel on, I ask to see the fitter
He emerges and say it was an oversight he meant to tell me and had just forgot, says he will get the clips ordered and call me once delivered.

The morale is do not let them do the job without sending watching, they are trying to get the job done quickly rather than with care.

I truly fear having to get any glass work done at Autoglass again, but as the preffered supplier for the insurance company I am with I seem to be stuck with Hobson's choice.
