Just wondering if anything has changed recently after new car tax rules (cant sell car with tax included, taxing online now etc)Do you still have to go to your local dvla office to change from disabled tax or can it be done online now?

I did this about 2 months ago when I bought my MX5. Went to a post office with my new keepers slip, filled out a V62 with the reason as "change of tax class" AND ticking "new keeper" (this waives the £25 fee for v62 processing), and at the same time I bought 6 months of tax. V5 came back 3 weeks or so later with the correct tax class.

Until the V5 comes back, keep your new keeper slip and receipt for tax in the vehicle, as it will still show as disabled tax on the police computer until the V62 is processed, even though you have taxed it correctly. Never had an issue from police.

As above, post office is the easiest way now.

Yes, the closing of all the DVLA offices ment a change in procedure. We do it umpteen times a week.
