Where do i start?
I have a mg roadster and i'm looking for person/ company that specialises in custom engine fitting.
Basically i'm after a more modern engine and box to to in the car.
The normal thing is the rover V8 but i quite like the idea of the ford V6 cosworth lump.
Anyone know of anywhere that does this sort of work?
Around south wales if possible.
Im not expecting it to be cheap but i rather pay to get the job done right and completed.

You might try "Frontline"

They do a conversion for the MGB to take the Ford type 9 five speed 'box, which fits the Ford V6, so may be able to help. They also did a run of MGBs with Mazda engines, and Midgets with K series engines, so they're good at this sort of thing.

Are you not tempted by something smaller and lighter in it? I always fancied fitting the 190bhp inline 4 Toyota VVT-i celica lump to an MG but then you'll have issues with fitting a suitable gearbox and that could become expensive. 2.0 litre Rover T-series turbo would be fun too with 200 odd BHP on tap

Thanks for the reply's. The first engine I thought of was the Rover T-series but I don't know what box would fit and there getting quite rare on the ground these days.

The s2000 engine is not what im looking for really, Want low down torque through the gears for A and B road blasts rather than a engine I have to ring the nuts off it.

Paying for this type of work is 99.999% of the time a complete disaster and it never gets finished.

Find a specialist who has transplanted XXX in before and get them to do the same to yours - preferably after seeing the previous car and chatting to it's owner.

There's a forum for MG engine transplants on the MG BBS (Google it). It's titled "16v K series" but all sorts have been discussed in the past. Although quiet now there are many who would respond if you asked there. Slightly more focussed on Midgets but again Bs and non K series conversions have been discussed are kmidget.com and similair k series midget facebook group.

Been done a few times has the t-series, believe they use a gearbox from a Sherpa van or an SD1 or something like that so yeah probably quite hard to get a box these days!
