Hi,

I have recently turned 17 and have received a 2004 Ford Ka 1.3 as a Christmas Present for my first car. I am currently taking lessons in an instructors vehicle but once I have passed my test I am going to be using my car everyday to get me to and from college. The car comes as standard with a 1000 series radio which only comes with a cassette player, however I would like to have an ipod connector so that i can listen to my own music in the car. After alot of looking i have found nothing and i cant find anything which will allow me to have an ipod connected to the radio interface. I was hoping that by putting a post on these forums i might get a result any help would be much appreciated! :-)

Thankyou

oilslick

Two things you could do without faffing around changing the head unit.

FM transmitter - my experience of these isn't great, seem to suffer from interference from other radio stations, especially on long journeys where a free local frequency is all of a sudden taken over by a different station.

Cassette adapter with 3.5mm jack that just slots into the radio in place of a tape with a cable hanging out the front that you plug into the headphone socket. Not the prettiest and the sound quality isn't going to be perfect, but audio fidelity in a Ka isn't going to be great anyway! I tried a couple of cheap ones from eBay a long time ago and they sounded pretty crap, bought a Belkin for about £20 and it was much better. Stuck with it for quite a long time. I'd suggest trying this first.

The cassette adaptor is the cheapest and best option. If You want you can get a fascia adaptor and have a new stereo installed with many more features, the 1000 is slightly lacking in that department.
