Will be going to view a Cat D car tomorrow at a dealer which i will hopefully purchase but i am put off by the dealer not having any service history or a logbook.

I don't want to purchase the car to then find out it is a Cat C or has a logbook loan attached to it.

I know this is a bit cheeky but could anyone do a HPI check for me?

So, you don't want to get stung but won't pay three quid to potentially avoid that...?

Cat C will be stated on the log book along with VIC details. Finance won't.

Edit: Woah, back up... it's at a dealer... so why's he not checking for you / checked it already?

But still... three quid / cost of a pint.

I use mycarcheck.com it costs £3, they take PayPal and you can do it from your phone. Handy when you're viewing the car as you can also input the vin number for an extra security check.
If something puts you off the car before you run the check you can walk away and you've saved £3 !

You're worried it hasn't got service history but you're quite happy to buy a cat D vehicle.

Is this another wind up thread FFS.

Why are you only able to pay for a HPI via Paypal? It amazes me that people won't spend the price of a cup of coffee to check a car! I'd buy a cat D car, but only if I had pre-repair photos.

Perhaps a wind up?!

Lack of documentation and history is one of the many reasons that Cat C/D cars are cheaper to buy. If you want a full service history, buy a car that hasn't been written off.

Why would a Cat C be out of the question, but a Cat D perfectly acceptable? Makes little sense.

You're quite right, that is cheeky. You are buying the car, how about doing your own HPI?

I think follow the rule (not just cars but most things in life)

If something doesn't feel right, walk away.
