I must if put my car back on the road around 20th of February last year.

I get a letter saying my tax s due end of this month.

I payed for 12 months in full , so why I'm i now 20 days short?

Does anyone els get this type of short change?

Tax starts from the beginning of the month you buy it in. Always has done.

Everyone does. You buy a month at a time, not days.

So when taking a car out of sorn its best to wait till the end of the month to avoid over paying.

Correct. But would you reay go without your car for 10 or so days for £10/£20?

To get the closest to the exact number of months you paid for, then you should tax a SORN'd car or sell a car at the end of the month. Not always convenient of course, so sometimes you may have to waste part of a months VED.

Why is it a surprise? the tax disc that you got nearly a year ago would have an expiry date on it in big letters.
