OP I'll fill you in on Ken Block. He co-founded DC Shoes amongst many other great achievements, he then sold the company and started a second career as a racing driver as well as running Hoonigan Industries (which he promotes in his videos) A self made millionaire and general all round great guy who makes amazing videos for our entertainment.

He gets a lot of flack on Pistonheads although I'm not quite sure why. He entered the WRC but hasn't been very successful, his car control is unreal but his racing isn't up there with the best drivers. Despite this he's still giving it a go at the ripe old age of 47.

Cos he's not a particularly good driver in the grand scheme of things, he just owns DC Shoes and has a lot of money to play with on marketing projects.

I'd say he's a better driver than 99% of people and not many realise how good WRC drivers actually are.

lol now now chaps - if only a few people who haven't seen the video watched and enjoyed it then what's the harm?

I was really impressed with his car control as has been said above, what's stopped him from doing better in the rallying than he has I wonder?

I'd liken him to a footballer who's really good at kickups, doesn't make him the best in the Prem league!

If you look at the video you'll often see loads of tyre marks where he's had umpteen goes at getting the corner right. In rallying you get one go. Get it wrong and you hit the scenery. Hard.

OR he successfully built a brand and has then decided he needs a new challenge that he loves.

What a negative outlook you have. I bet you are living the dream.

He built a company and made millions then went racing, rather than being in a cart from the age of 2 paid for by mummy and daddies millions. He may not be the best driver ever, but he is allot better than most millionaire gentleman racers.

I think the real reason allot of people dislike him is he dresses a bit "Bro" and some people don't think people like that should be successful.

This.

The "grand scheme of things" means the 7 billion or so people on the planet, so I'd make a conservative guess that he's in the top 0.01% (700,000? Pretty safe bet).

Sure, his natural environment is exhibition driver rather than racer; so what? Do these people deride any guitarist who can't shred as fast as Sasan Razgahi?
