My "friend" crashed his 2011 financed corsa. Apparently he can get insured again. He now wants a 1.4 ZR, which has more power, is less reliable, and surely out of his reach? Not sure insurance is working if he's allowed back on the road in a car that he won't be able to handle!

And then decent drivers get charged through the roof for not claiming anything...

In 2002 crashed a Mk3 Astra. My fault. I bought another. 1 years later I crashed that, although in the small claims court the other bloke was found to be liable, Then I Wrote that one off too in 2004 . Then I had 3 more cars, all Vauxhalls and then another mk3 astra, which after 3 years of ownership I erm wrote off in 2010. My insurance is lower now than EVER.
I shouldn't really be allowed out on the roads. In those 12 years, I've probably driven 200,000 miles. I'm not sure that I've learnt anything other than that I'm in line for an OBE, for services to motoring. Anyone that writes off a mk3 astra deserves an award. The car I now drive is faster than a mk3 astra, and perhaps capable of 50 Mph more.

Does your driving style involve putting your hands through the wheel and steering with your elbows? Or using 1 finger on the wheel whilst you use your phone?

Strangely No.

One moment of looking at the view. (Had I not told myself that I was in no rush, I would have been driving much more aggressively, be about a mile ahead, and concentrating a lot more)
One misinterpretation of someone else's intentions and a less than cautious overtake.
One Lamp post, which my eyes thought was next to the slip road into a car park, and not in the middle of a low dark central reservation, which I cut at speed and with low sun in my eyes, so that I made an error of judgement which hurt.

Ouch. Did you die?

No but when the airbag went off, I "awoke" from the impact with white dust in the air, deafness, and a burnt hand (I assume a friction burn from the airbag ripping the front of the steering wheel apart.)
