Well after many hours/days/months pondering what my next car would be I decided it needed to be an audi with rs in its title!
After viewing a few b7 rs4's and deciding they where just to expensive for the level of car I would want so looked into b5 rs4's then came across this lovely example of a c5 rs6 by chance, mileage being under the 60k mark was a serious selling point and the level this car has been kept to is pretty exceptional. Also being completely standard this car ticked all the boxes.
Only kicker is that after a spur of the moment trip to edinburgh and a test drive a quick call to the insurance company informed me they wouldnt even quote me until I turned 21, fair enough really.
So with my sensible head firmly on I bought the car and I dont regret one second of it, its unlike anything ive ever driven/ been in ever before. And the level of quality in the cabin screams luxury.
Yes its probably up there with the most expensive cars to run and upkeep but with working away it will not be getting used day to day and purely for pleasure, and with the mileage hopefully the gearbox wont cause to much trouble! Only plans are going with eibach coilovers and some arbs and drilled discs then just enjoy it.
Anyway here are some pictures, sorry for the quality will get some proper pictures when I can actually drive it to a good location and have some decent light! Only 5 weeks now till my 21st and to say im counting the days is a vast understatement!
And yes the "NAF" regi will be getting replaced haha!

I can't even imagine having something like that on the drive for 5 weeks while I can't drive it! Absolute torture!
Great achievement at your age too. I'm 22 and just picked up an M5. If you look hard enough there are some cars that slip through the insurance net and are actually quite reasonable, the RS6 I know is one. I've always been curious about them as they look awesome, especially in your Layer Cake colour spec! Hope you enjoy it!

Very good cars but keep a slush fund as they do cost to repair. At those miles I strongly suggest a few gearbox flushes to clean the oil up and help preserve it! Also the intercoolers are most likely leaking a little already so get some uprated larger ones on there - a company in Farnborough sells then in the UK and they are very good. You should also change all the small bore vacume lines for silicon tubing as the rubber perishes over time and you get leaks.
Generally they are very good if maintained, just dont skimp or they bite badely!

Beautiful. Had a C5 S6 as my daily for some time, lovely car but still always lusted over the big RS 
My insurence went UP when I swapped from my 4.2ltr V8 S6 to my older 328 BMW with about half the power, as the stats say the latter is more likely to be wrapped round a tree.
Even when I was 17, I could only afford a 1.2Ltr Fiesta but having in an Astra I could get a 1.8 as the car carried a better image with insurers.

Lots of cars are cheap to insure at a young age if you think outside the box. The crash stats say more than the engine size/power. Thanks for all the positive comments guys! Not rich at all but with little to no outgoings and working offshore its easy to save and have a reasonable level in the bank for when things need addressed with the car.
Will be getting a full shake down before it gets driven in anger for piece of mind. But at the end of the day im prepared to have to spend the money on it and I would rather spend it this way than paying 5 years of finance on a golf r or audi s3 for example like many other younger guys.
And as for insurance I will be paying 780 for a year with 2 years ncb and no points or claims. Thats with admiral.
Will be getting a full shake down before it gets driven in anger for piece of mind. But at the end of the day im prepared to have to spend the money on it and I would rather spend it this way than paying 5 years of finance on a golf r or audi s3 for example like many other younger guys.

yeh ive done a good amount of research, and rs246 forum has some valuable info and many experienced guys, yeh cars like this will let you know when there not being up kept! Just hope my gearbox oil comes out clean when it gets changed haha!

Totally agree, I could be leasing a an A45 or M135i, but I'd rather buy and own my M5 which is the more interesting car to me! You've done very well on the insurance front there! Mine is almost double on the M5 at 22, though with some points admittedly.Will be getting a full shake down before it gets driven in anger for piece of mind. Yeh m5 was pretty high on my list but insurance for m cars is pretty crazy! And with mountain biking and hopefully a few ski trips the avant suits my needs.
