No numbers being put on it, but tests on mice show "fat cells may be among our first line of defence against pathogens".

Phew! I knew there is a reason for me not to even attempt sub 10% - hehe.

Obvious caveats include more fat does not equal more protection, in fact obesity appears to lead to a "higher rate of soft-tissue infections".

I only got down to 10% last year and I got ill quite a bit more. Felt better when I wasn't ill though. My targets 6-7% this year!

I'm intrigued why you want to target your body fat to such a low degree. 10% is perfectly healthy - are you a national class sportsman?

I'm weighing up whether to try competing at mens physique. So I'm trialling dieting down to that level. Plus I suffer with chubby kid syndrome still hehe
