So, should I rush out and chop the onega in for a V8 BMW, Jag or something?

Obviously it's going to go back up, but when? and how low will it go before hand?
Opinions?

I think we have two years of cheap fuel and then we will be fked personally

Keeping my A4 Diesel 6 months then selling that and my Classic MINI and going to buy something really horrendously thirsty in the summer.

Tax will go up nicely after the election, then as soon as the Americans stop producing so much of the black stuff, prices will rocket up to 150p/l.

Planning on swapping my 1.4 Turbo in and getting something with 6/8 cylinders. 330i is top so far.

Yes, I did.

I also think these prices will only be temporary but might as well enjoy it whilst it lasts. It turns out V8s need not be so thirsty anyway, mine can do 32mpg on a longish trip! Doesn't seem much point compromising with a diesel that would probably only manage 40 on the same trip with more expensive fuel.

I agree - Regardless of whether its Labour/Conservative/Coalition of some sort, etc.

If a coalition between SNP + Labour come in, I bet we're basically fked.

1. Study economics, to at least undergrad standard
2. Obtain classified internal documents pertaining to oil reserves and well forecasts from the main oil producing and refining companies
3. Plant a spy within either the Saudi government or OPEC, preferably both, to obtain the same information.
4. Speculate on the possible reserves of shale gas in the US released by fracking, as that is one of the main drivers behind the current low prices
5. Speculate on the changing political nature of Russia and its neighbours
6. Speculate on the futures markets, securities, equities, the state of the global economy, forecast drivers for change therein
7. Speculate on the appetite for oil demand among air transport, shipping, and other industries relating to cargo and logistics, and how each may be affected by those drivers mentioned in point 6 above
8. Cross match all of the above, study trends therein, extrapolate, and hey presto! You might approach a sensible answer.

6 Months tops, enjoy a brief respite while we are made to feel like life is better before the shareholders turn up the wick again.

I think you hit the nail on the head in points 4-7 there

"speculate"

FWIW I am selling my quite frual suzuki sv650, having recently bought a yamaha FZ1s. From what I;ve read, if I can get 42-44 mpg from the 1000 cc yamaha I should be content and not wish for more. I think it'll be less fuel efficient than my car (civic)!

I'm sure Government froze duty as it was going so high

Next budget it will increase again as oil is so low

Then oil price will rise, with increased duty on top

6-18 months time we will be back £1.30-1.50

That's my uneducated guess

What the highest pump price we have had in the UK in last 10 years?

I did think it might dip under a quid in a few months, but it seems to be heading that way really quickly!

I know you're having a laugh, but I think the petrol prices went down because supply is up relative to demand. That's it. OPEC couldn't agree on how much to restrict supply by, as there were many arguments about what to do. Some countries want to punish Russia and Iran with lower oil prices, some wanted the highest price without significantly slower economic growth.

Bought my V8 back in the summer. At 12 mpg around town it still hurts even with the lower prices but it's oh so nice to drive biggrin

Bought my V8 with prices approaching 140p for super unleaded. Didn't regret it.

I made the switch from diesel to petrol with the PH logic of if it costs £80 to fill the tank, it better deserve it!
