Gerard-Perregaux value
Discussion
I am definitly interested in selling it. It does have some sentimental value but I just never wear it and can't seeing myself doing so may as well sell it and get one that I will use. Just been struggling to get a valuation for it. In the paperwork it says the number of the watch is dh 9001 and the movement is 2009745. My Grandfather had an insurance valuation of £845 in 1981 but if that has any relevance today I dont really know

There's a similar age but 14k on leather strap on TZ-UK right now. It's up for EU 500. I'd reckon yours with bracelet in 9K (more gold but a lower grade) might be worth something like £500 depending on condition and in a private sale
Are you kidding? This has a full original gold bracelet, box, papers and provenance! It is worth far, far more than you are suggesting.
The inferior GP on TZ is from a skanky trader (who doesn't admit it, as far as I can see and sells endless shabby watches from, I presume, poor sources), with no provenance and a tatty old strap. Even the fact that they are both ticky, yellowy and say Girard Peregaux on the dial doesn't make them even remotely similar.

Glad to hear that! I've contacted numerous dealers online and none has been able to give me a valuation though so I'm a bit lost and need pointing in the direction of a decent valuerThis has a full original gold bracelet, box, papers and provenance! Part of the problem there is that its quite a big chunk of gold (even if "only" 9kt). GP aren't the easiest selling watches because they're not really known by Joe Public in the way that, say, Omega, are so the gold value of the case can approach the value of the watch (though probably not exceed it as it might with lesser brands). But you can't know the gold value accurately without dropping the movement etc out and weighing it. The weight of that case / bracelet, at a guess, could be anywhere between about 25 and 45 grams and that's a difference of close to £200 in metal value alone at current prices.
Bear in mind that gold value is effectively an insurance policy for any dealer prepared to speculate on it, and you can't weigh a watch online!

Personally, you wouldn't be able to part me from it.

Yeah I just need to find a dealer that actually knows what they're looking at. It weighs 52g but thats as it is with the movement in.
