Hi All

About to pull the trigger on a clio 200 ( non turbo ) and struggling to get decent insurance quotes, nothing below £1900.00.

Any good recommendations? 23 years old, 2 years NCB.

Same, still are now at 26. Also gives me third party insurance on other peoples cars which I really like having (not sure how many others also do this though? Also you only get it from 25)

I'm 23 as well and Admiral Group have always been the cheapest for me. Had no problems, but then I haven't had to claim...

Another vote for the admiral/elephant group. Always been cheapest for me (21-24years old) Do a comparison website check as well just in case and then call directly to negotiate. If you get good comparison site quote, make a note of the quote ref there and then and purchase - they fluctuate up and down all the time, so don't rely on that offer being there next time you run the comparison.

Just as a side note I don't know your exact circumstances - location, NCBs, convictions etc... but for me £1900 wouldn't be far out on a clio sport.

I'd check Adrian Flux.

£1900?! When I was replacing my old car I looked at one and being 3 years younger the prices were only £1200!

I was with Elephant when I first insured the M3 and I had 0 no claims (Age 23 & £1180) renewal was up in November and with the 1 year NCB my price for renewal through Elephant was £1240. Suffice to say I didn't renew, I gave Adrian Flux a ring and got it for a much more reasonable £780.

I'm with LV - they're two-thirds the price of Admiral on mine.

That sounds far-fetched to me. £1180? Seems remarkably low for someone with 0 no claims, notwithstanding you being 23.

That does seem fairly high.

If you wanted to PM me your details I can always arrange a call back from our quotes team?

Kind regards,
Jordan

£1900 is insane, where do you live?! I just ran a quote for a Clio 200, and it came in at almost exactly the same as my E46 328i, £450 or so. I'm 23 with five years' NCB, but even if I dropped it to two years' I still get similar figures.

Another vote for Admiral Group here, I've been insured with them since I started driving at 17 six years ago. They've always been the cheapest by quite a long way for my "young driver in reasonably high-risk car" combination.

I understand that my post does read like quite a glaringly obvious advertisement for Adrian Flux, but I'm not affiliated, just speaking from my experience. I'm at work so don't have any custard but I'll screenshot my original/renewal if you really want.

£60 was added after I phoned them and declared modifications.

Bexleyheath DA7, just on border of SE London. That's bloody cheap will have a look now.

I would recommending giving Sky Insurance a call. They were much cheaper than Adrian Flux and a lot more helpful, I found Adrian Flux very arrogant.

If the car is unmodified, just stick your details into Go Compare and go with who's cheapest?

My current insurer wanted £1154 for my renewal on the impreza in feb. £1200 last year. Called John Lewis and got it for £700. Highly reccomend them. 28 and not the greatest driving history.

I have consistently found Admiral (through Confused) to be the cheapest, at 23 with a '09 MX5. This is further helped in my case as we are on a multi-car policy. Esure (through Go Compare) have come out very well for next year though, but I'd just blast through the price comparison websites.

Also find an older, more experienced driver and pop them on your insurance, in my first year or two having my dad reduced quotes by a decent chunk.

I'm £550 for the Clio 197 with admiral at 23 years old and zero no claims (no claims used for TVR)

TVR was £300 to insure.

They are a proper PITA if something goes wrong.

Coming to think about it, An M3 for me to insure is about £1700, and I'm 20 using my NCB, so it doesn't sound that fat fetched, now I've got a quote for myself. I was expecting 4k+

That's the key right there. It's worth googling for complaints as well as prices as the same names will keep reappearing.
I forgot to mention, I had a large fault claim settled with Admiral Group a few years ago and all went rather smoothly.
