windscreen rubber surround

another windscreen matter.

my lower, outside surround has come away from teh screen a bit [about a foot of it]. Have sealed up but would like any advice from anyone who may know.

Should I have screen people replace all the surround now [I guess that they have to take the screen out and refit] or just leave it until a stone hits my screen [ahem] and I get a new one?

Is masticking it back in an ok repair or is it more significantly structural?

Mine too and it seems unable to stop,just keeps on peeling off.

I superglued mine back on. Seems OK.

SIKAFLEX! Avail in black and clear IIRC.

Make sure the joint is DRY use masking tape to hold in position until cured and all should be OK.

but I struggled to get the two halves of the rubber seal surround to rejoin, so don;t put on too much.

It's worth remembering, as I was told recently by a winscreen fitter, if any of the trim needs resealing, especially the main seal, more often than not the screen will have to come out aswell and if it breaks in the process the owner is liable for the replacement. So if it needs resealing make sure the screen is damaged and claim it all on your insurance for the sum of £50.

I popped in to the local RAC Windscreen depot and said that silicone I used did not stick to the rubber of the windscreen trim and the nice man gave me a tube of Betafill and sent me on my way.

I can now confirm that this stuff sticks better than sticky stuff to a blanket ;-) It even fixed the overlap at the bottom of the pillar. I also used it to fix my new rear light covers in. Not so easy but it seems to have worked well.

I had my windscreen rubber replaced at main dealer early last year and the rubber and fixing kit cost about £30 and they charged me about £120 to remove old rubber clean up screen and refit.
