Looks like the front of the sunroof panel has dislodged indicating the shell being twisted.

Such a shame to see a classic car like that totaled. Folks can wax lyrical about the merits of driving an air cooled Porsche, but the damage to the Turbo is immense when compared to the modern truck it hit. I am in the minority on this forum, but that's why I would not drive an older Porsche.

It is quite a sobering thought. All the guys on here saying they don't like the modern stuff.......modern is good when the st hits the fan....or the van in this case...

Looks like the nearside screen pillar has been pushed back. Quite a bit of damage but repairable in the right hands.

Even a 991 would look pretty sorry if a 2-tonne truck had just smashed over the front of it. You can't judge purely on appearances. The proof is whether the passenger compartment is still intact and the occupants walked away. You can guarantee that the truck was also thoroughly written off; it's just that the damage to that was mostly hidden underneath. Did you see the new position of the front wheel on it?

I think the safety concern is less a case of Old v New and more of an SUV v Sports Car issue.

I have genuine concerns about how an Elise or Cateram occupant would fare in an altercation with a large SUV let alone an HGV or Coach. AFAIK the impact safety compatibility of various vehicles at the extremes of the road legal spectrum is not tested anywhere.
