Good Value ASP.NET Hosting
Discussion
It's come up for renewal time as the provider I use for a few project sites has been purchases by a large ISP who want to move me from ASP to PHP I think its time to move.
As most of my work is now .NET is makes sense to find someone with ASP.NET hosting, not too worried about which database they use.
These are personal projects, so funds are limited, otherwise I'd consider using the large dual-site we use for our commercial applications.
I appreciate this isn't the "cool" way of being hosted, feeding Bill Gates greed and all, but I'm technical and not design oriented!

For the last 2 years I have used www.Webhost4life.com.
Good points
1. Cheap - .Net hosting on 2003 servers with Ms sql server + unlimited bandwidth works out for me at about £75 quid per year. If you don't want sql server it's cheaper again.
2. Good Tech support - it is via email but prioritise it correctly and the response is good and is 24 hours (I placed a call which would have been 3 am Eastern Time and it was fixed in minutes)
3. Control panel is easy to use, including the SQL server one if you don’t have or want to install Enterprise Manager
4. If you decide to use them and follow this link I get a commission : -)
5. If you have 1 sql server account you can have as many db's as you want (up to your storage limit) so this can be used from other non-db account sites.
Bad points
1. Sql Servers are a bit crowded – this does not appear to be an issue with the site accessing the db, response times are always in the low hundreds ms, but enterprise manager is a bit slow.
2. There was some issue late last year with sites going down – I put a strongly worded email to them reminding them of their 99% uptime guarantee and something about reducing costs. Got very apologetic email and more important, it has not happened since. (I monitor my sites it every minute 24/7)
3. They are US based – some people see this as a bad thing but it has not affected me in anyway, I can’t see how more accessible a server in docklands is compared to one in New York (e.g)
