Winter tyres are coming off tomorrow
Discussion
I wonder if the OP has the slightest idea what he's done by starting this off again..
I'm not interested in the long, tired old debate between those who actually look at data and logic and those who don't want to change their habits, but I do think paying for winters and then taking them off in the second week of January is pretty daft. I don't think winter has shown itself yet.

Seriously, what's wrong with normal tyres when it gets below 7 degrees? I've been driving 23 yrs, never had a set of winter tyres and never had a problem with normal tyres through 23 winters.
The bloke I saved from a five mile hike through the Boxing Day blizzard was quite impressed as we breezed up the hill, past a great many stranded cars and now has a different view from you.Don't you have any hills on your side of the hills?

Would be stupid to take them off now, unless you are planning on doing a track day between now and April.
it makes F* all difference in weather like today but those few frosty/icy mornings eves and the rare bit of snow it makes a lot of sense to keep them on for now.

It's pretty well documented that winters come into their element below 7 degrees when normal rubber tends to harden up and lose traction. I have a feeling there will still be a lot of days below that to come.
It's well documented by the tyre industry indeed. Good summer doesn't come off a cliff at 7 deg, they only very gradually and gently losing friction then. They start getting worse at 1 or 2 deg IME, which is my threshold anyway.mybrainhurts said:

No,of course they aren't and no there are no hills where I live.
