can someone help. my car was involved in an accident on tuesday night, i informed the insurance company, they contacted me back the nest day to inform me the car was a write off and they would not be repairing it. no one came out to look at the car and it was only a small bump with the front drivers wheel hit leaving it at a slight angle. can they declare it a write off without a mechanic looking at it.

If they want. Yes.

Why do you ask?

Yes, and it's not looking that good for how much they think it's worth, is it?

because ive been told by a few people that it could just be a bent wish bone and i found it strange that the insurance havent even looked at the car just said they would salvage it.

On one I crashed in 2008 they simply asked me over the phone "did the airbags deploy", once I'd answered yes they didn't want to see it, just paid out.

I take it yours, like mine was, is an older car ?

Newer than mine was then, mine was 13 years old, a Volvo 850 estate with a value of £1,500.00.

What does a car like yours sell for ?

As suggested by a chap above, call them, talk to them, if you are confused or stuck, look for LoonR1 on here, see what he advises.

There's no reason why you can't get an estimate for repairs irrespective of what insurers have said.
