Is it just me or are the classifieds getting smaller and smaller? Just doesnt seem to be as many cars for sale and sold on here as there used to be.

We have been steadily increasing to over 125k for a while now... so I wonder if you are seeing this in a specific category or type of car you are looking for?

What are you searching for?

Yeah, but is it a case of lies, damn lies and statistics.

Eg.. Porsche (996) Turbo ... 49 listings for sale
Except, one of them is for a number plate.. and 17 of them are Sold/Looking for stock/we want your car type ads.

So, 18 out of 49 ads for Porsche 996 Turbos for sale, ie 37% of them, aren't really cars for sale at all.

Well if you want to get really frustrated do a search for 996 GT3s!

Haha. I see what you mean.

8/10 adverts are Sold/Wanted/Looking for stock (6 of them from the same Dealer!!!)
1/10 is a standard Porsche with a body kit so in the wrong category and the other isn't a road car.

So, 100% of the PH Classifieds Ads for Porsche 996 GT3s aren't really cars for sale at all. Add that to the 37% of Porsche 996 Turbos that are in the same nonsense category .

So, genuine question to RacingPete. When you say the number of ads is increasing, are you taking any account of all this garbage? Taking these two categories of cars.. are you counting 49 + 10 = 59 car for sale adverts or are you counting 31/59 adverts for cars that are genuinely for sale?

It is a fair point... I am taking headline stats based on number of adverts placed, and thus if that advert is a "sold, wanted similar" or a genuine car for sale it is included as a number in the stats.

Looking across those categories it is an issue, though it is an ad slot dealers are prepared to pay for just to put a wanted ad up (and for that we must assume this tactic works). I will point the dealer team at this thread for them to read.
