The Le Mans 24hrs was my first Scalextric, that was a great Christmas present! Still have all the bits (and tonnes of track/cars/bits and bobs) boxed up in the loft!

Scaletrix used to be worth a fair bit of money second hand but its pretty cheap now , good time to buy but as said most people have sets in the loft unused

This one was £60 ish in good order happy with that.

This is the exact one I wanted as a kid but my parents could only afford the Team Jag one which I believe was £50 back then with the Le Mans one well over £200. I enjoyed it and still have it some 25 odd years old

My brother and I got this exact set for Christmas one year. Awesome. Used to simulate the changing daylight etc with the dimmer switch.

Anyway I'd like to get it out tomorrow and have a good play with it.

I was having coffee with my mum earlier and she mentioned they had just found my scalextric (lots of) that I last saw 15+ years ago (when I helped them move house) I doubt it's faired well (the track) but the cars should still be useable and I'm sure the kids will enjoy playing with it.

A touch of sand paper if needed to remove any corrosion and off you go smile

Had some of those cars don't know about the set though. Always found an issue with the headlights dropping and just lighting up the interior of the bodywork.

Major issue will be how it was packed and stored, it certainly isn't in polystyrene, from what I recall a large cardboard box with the flat track laid on the bottom in stacks, special bits on top and cars over that and in the gaps. Time will tell but I'm expecting plenty of warped track.

I'd call that a challenge playing the field.

You and your boy will have hours of fun with it. Happy days.
