Ok, when you have little media thing to plug an I-pod into, do you leave the I-pod plugged in 24/7 or does it have to be unplugged or else it drains the battery?

It doesn't supply power to the MDI when the car is turned off, so perfectly safe to leave it plugged in all the time.

That's awesome, thank you, that's the car's I-pod sorted then!

Agree.

I actually use my Passat to charge my iPod nano as I don't have a mains charger! Safe to leave in the whole time.

Let me know if you find a way to browse your albums though. On mine, it will either just loop the album that I was listening to when I connected it, or if I try and navigate via the in-car stereo, it just lists every song in alphabetical order, which is a bit crap.

In the media setting (Extra) I found an option which then was "shuffle" if that is what you mean?

I can check again tomorrow if you want. This was on the Sat Nav screen.

Functionality depends what head unit you've got fitted. In mine I can browse through all music through the touchscreen:

Well, I'll see what option it was and maybe yours will have the same in a menu?

Right I had a quick fiddle earlier (ooer) and I can't find the feckin' option!!

I do know that I had to go into the Settings Option though. If you want I will try again tomorrow and take a pic of the screen?

Yes please! The set-up I have is pretty much unusable unless I'm in the mood for a random mix of Gangsta rap, Dubstep and Classical music.

Right, the option didn't come up due to p**s poor camera operator, but the left hand option is called "Mix Folder".

Press that and it shuffles... Then just pressing the " > " button on the CD bit at the top will move onto the next random song.

ETA - Please excuse Abba - OH's Ipod...

I don't want a random song though - I just want to listen to an album!

Otherwise, I still have the problem of having Dr Dre - Mozart - Skrillex, etc.

Ah ok so you have loads of albums rather than playlists. I will look tomorrow, pretty sure that was just one of the first options in the set up!

OK, I just go to media and use the "up" option to this screen. Then select albums (as shown) - that then brings up the albums which if I select one, it will play that album.
