Screen washers stopped working

Have done a search but most comes up with Leven upgrades on this topic.

I have checked the obvious...

Water: yes
Jets blocked: No
Pipes attached: Yes

What confused me was that water was coming through the screen air vent inside the car on the passenger side 2nd vent along after trying for the 4th/5th time but none through the jets.

The water that came through the inside of the car was not clear with a lot of black bits,considering I just filled the bottle up with some fresh water and a squirt of fairy.

Any ideas welcome

Mine was a blockage at the bottle end, I just blew down the pipe to clear it

If it's the same as the grif disconnect the feed at the wipers where it joins the pipe on the wiper blade and check if pressure is getting that far. I cleared my jets but found the whole pipe was full of ste. Good luck

Best disconnect tube at both ends, remove bottle, (easy) and flush.

Sounds like your tube has become disconnected or perished/cracked under the dash.

Had a similar problem and the pipe had become disconnected under the mesh! Not the easiest thing to access! However, my local Specialist sorted it.

Thanks for the kind response.

Out of all those suggestions (phazed) seem's to make some kind of sense as it's somehow coming through under the dash.

Tomorrow I will try blowing the pipe at the bottle end and check again the pipes,failing that it sounds like Bobs4c advice.

As you may of gathered by now my skills are 1/10 on the scale of mechanics Just seem's a bit silly to take to a garage for such a small problem.

At the moment I'm carrying a bottle of water in the car to pour on the screen and might just continue with this till something else decides to test me.

Nothing wrong using a bit of fairy squirty stuff... Well it's what I've used for 30 odd years and seems to do the trick.

Yes, the water was coming through the dash vent on the passenger side. It was winter and I needed a fix. Also the car lives outside on the road and the "fix" isn't easy. There are a couple of approaches but one is to remove the bonnet release on the bulkhead, cut a slot for access and repair! Might be worth a search.

I think if i ever need to do this i would run some new pipes neatly through the engine bay and try and think of a better method to attach to the jets.

I'm down with the man flu so don't have the full enthusiasm to do much but just a quick look. I pulled the tubes off at the wiper end and no water is coming through before it even gets to the jets.

Had a look at the bottle end where you say easy to take out,or blow the tube at bottle end. Can I ask if you lot are Contortionists?

I'm just not into this lying on a garage floor trying to twist my hands through little gaps I gave up!

I tried squirting the wipers many many times and no water came through the vents inside this time,it's all above my very limited skills and patience so will continue with a bottle of water inside the car till I take it to a garage.

I just thought for once it may be something very simple and be able to tackle myself,but viewing that link from Hedgehopper didn't help my course.Reading: Nightmare job and not an easy job didn't exactly put me in the right frame of mind

Will add the verdict on this page after the people who know what they are doing find the fault to maybe help others that can tackle these jobs.

It is easy to take out the water reservoir to check the pump and clean the pipes. I have recently changed my pump.
You will need to drop one side of the number plate (the off side ) to gain better access and the water container itself comes out by pushing the plastic bottle up. It just slides into a shaped slot.

You need to prize the filler hose off. It really is easier than it looks.

When re-connected and filled with water I had to prime my new pump by letting it run with hose off the pump for a few seconds and connecting the pump. It could well have been the cold weather recently that has frozen the water and either damaged the pump or pipes.
