I am looking at a RR Westminster 4.4 TDV8. The car is Sep 2012 with 9500 miles. It does not appear to have been serviced.

I understand that they utilise condition based servicing based on mileage or age. Can anyone tell me what the time based service would be? Is it two years or three?

Thank you.

I believe it is every year regardless and the condition monitoring is if anything is required sooner.

Happy to be proved wrong.

no, you are absolutely right

every twelve months or sooner if doing high mileage and car 'asks' for a service

it does surprise me that some people are quite happy to pay the high cost of a 'new' RR and then try to skimp on servicing - this was confirmed by my main dealer

OP is quite correct to wonder why it has not been serviced?

Understood all LR motors are 12m service intervals, it might be low mileage but it's effectively missed its first 2 services.

Thank you. I am viewing this morning. Maybe if the car asks to be serviced then perhaps it has been and the book may not be stamped. There should be a paper record somewhere.

Thanks again.

as you say warranty is probably void?

wonder if OP is considering car from a LR dealer?

when I recently bought mine I got the main dealer to do the 2 year service which was due in a few hundred miles/month - most expensive service in an L405's life apparently - cost over £1500 inc a few warranty issues as they gave me the service bill so I have full history on the car

the book would be stamped and if it has 'proper' history the bill will be present - see my post above

Thank you to everyone for their help. I have purchased the car this afternoon.

The previous information I gave was not exactly right as I didn't want someone unhelpful to try and identify the car from the classifieds and interfere with my purchase in some way. Apologies to the 99% of PH'ers who are always helpful!

The car is actually March 2012 and has 11,900 miles. It turns out that it was serviced at 7,500 miles in May 2013 (when it was 14 months old). There is a stamp in the book and a copy invoice in the paperwork. It should have had another service at two years old although this has been missed. It has only done 4,400 miles since the last oil change/service. It therefore may not have the balance of manufacturers warranty as it was not serviced annually but the selling dealer has a 3 month statutory obligation to warrant the car which will take it beyond the 3yr Manufacturers Warranty.

The overall condition is like new, so buying on condition I have no concerns.

The vendor is an independent dealer and he has agreed to have the 3rd year service undertaken at a LR dealer including brake fluid change. He is also going to have the wheels balanced as there was a slight wobble at 70mph. I will collect it next Saturday.

Very pleased. smile
