Quite exciting. First Barbecue of the new year. Chicken rolling around and veggies slumbering along underneath.

Anyone else?

Note: no smart people from the Southern Hemisphere - I don't mean you tongue out

I made BBQd jerk chicken for Christmas Day.

Got the last bag of charcoal in Leatherhead too redface
There's a year-round BBQ/log/coal shop, and the guy there said he'd been amazed by the number of people who'd been in to buy charcoal, so clearly I am not alone.

Had the BBQ out on boxing day with Dad, third year in a row now. It's a good tradition, and the food tastes great!

No snow to contend with this year sadly but still good fun.

It's something special, isn't it? Like wood smoke in the autumn. That sense of nice things happening against the cool backdrop of grey winters....

You lot are nuts.

Spend £100's on a cooker and you go out in the cold/wind/rain/snow/hail/sleet to cook over fire.

Evolution has has clearly passed you by.

Or, it makes perfect sense to look for any excuse to go and use the Webber charcoal BBQ instead of leaving it in the shed gathering dust biggrin

13 degrees and blue skies here yesterday, plus it meant that there was plenty of space in the oven for the trimmings.

I've not stopped using my BBQ all last year and I cooked some burgers on it last night. I'm a bit pissed off my missus decided to store the BBQ brush in the lit BBQ. I need to buy a new brush now!

I've BBQd in the snow before now. BBQing is great fun any time of the year:

Did a half shoulder of lamb a few days ago, and put it with a Moroccan sauce. Lamb was rubbed with paprika, cumin, garlic salt . Cooked for 4 hours. Moroccan sauce - chopped tomatoes, chilli flakes, chick peas, char grilled sweet peppers, aubergine , courgette , garlic, flaked almonds.

Very tasty.

The bbq never stops at our house, come wind, rain or snow, usually at least 1-2 times per week. Smoked our rib of beef on Christmas day and it was delicious.

A well managed fire in a quality smoker usually has much less temperature fluctuation than a domestic oven, my WSM will only vary by +/- 5c at most, whereas my oven will vary by +/- 20c before the thermostat kicks in.
