Cam Sprocket Retainer Tool - Loan?
Discussion
It's about time, roughly 12k since I did the valve clearances, but that was as part of a top end rebuild, so I've never done it with the cam chain on.
If anyone has a retainer tool I can borrow I'd be delighted to make a small donation to your favourite charity.
(not sure what happened to the title but it seems I can't edit that...
Thank you moderator, whoever you are!)

Great tip, thanks.
This was just a mock up for making the tool, note the rags stuffed in every orafice incase the tool locating bolts were dropped
Not done the clearances yet, just made the tool and checked the gaps (down to 6 thou on inlets)
I got side tracked painting the water rails and porting / welding the manifold while bits came for the drive train. Then ran out of enthusiasm!

Is there any possibility of me borrowing this tool or having some dimensions so that I can fabricate my own? I am hoping to start this job on Sunday. This will be the first time that I have done it so fingers crossed!
PM me your address and I'll get it in the post tomorrow. Make sure you have something like this
And use it every time you touch the sprocket bolts to make sure this doesn't happen to the cam chain cover
You could turn the car upside down and shake until the bolt comes out, but most people pull the engine.
