Anyone got any information to impart?

If you find yourself having to make a claim on a classic insurance policy, this will obviously have to be declared to the insurer of your normal policy too.

Presumably that will result in an increase in the cost of both policies - but will it also effect the ncd on the ordinary policy?

Thanks

No because you haven't claimed on that policy. As you say, however, you will have to declare it and the base premium before NCB will go up, so after NCB is applied it will still have gone up.

Your "normal" insurer will (should - not all do in my experience) ask the question (in approximate terms) "any claims made against or by you in the last 12 months?" when the renewal is due. As such, you are obliged to tell them about the claim made on the "classic" policy as it was a claim made against (or by) you as a driver...

Even if your "normal" insurer don't ask "the question" (or any others and they seem not to nowadays, from my admittedly limited experience upon hitting middle age), one is obliged to offer the information anyway - better they know now than once they investigate when the muck has sadly hit the fan wink .

TL;DR - tell all your insurers about the claim as and when required, it's for the best and allows easy sleep at night (especially after another prang) smile .

AW51 is correct, but the OP already knew this, the question was about no-claims bonus - which as I've been told by those in the business, is only affected by claims on the policy to which it's attached.

Been out of the insurance business a few years, and motor insurance longer, but no way should it affect the NCD on your regular policy as that NCD is specific to that car.
That is why when you acquire a 2nd car it has to earn it's own NCD.
However as has been said they may hike the premium to reflect the claim, even though the NCD is unaffected.
