Fords from South Africa

Anyone here bought a Ford (Escort or Cortina) from South Africa, are they as good as they sound and a better deal than a much repaired UK model?

Old cars from Sa have rust issues a specially if near the coast.
Most people like new cars. Those that drive old cars can only afford old cars and the condition will show that.
I spent 25 years living there. I know. We used to drive an old banger on 3 of the 4 cylinders cause we only had money for 3 spark plugs hahahaha. Those were the days
