If I have a problem with my car, or indeed wish to have work done I use forum's as a great place to research companies.
I have had great work done thanks to this approach, as the good guys have great reputations ( justifiably so )
I accept that no business deserves to be attacked on a forum and that the mods have a duty to regulate what is posted.
Where I have concern is when a business states how good they are in a post and self promotes their services, only for posts from former unhappy customers to later be removed.
The topic then becomes un-balanced and does not allow people to make an accurate decision as whether to use the business.
When booking holidays, people access Trip advisor and bad comments are seldom removed from that platform. You are then free to make a decision based on all the information.
My post that was removed was 100% factual and indeed quoted the person "verbatim", I was also not the only one to have a negative post removed.

I 100% agree with the OP. It isn't really an open forum at all - you can say anything you like as long as its good.I had a post closed down where the dealer in question was not named but it was hinted at several times and then it was shut down.
It is down to advertising thats all...you only have to look at for instance the 991 GT3 cars 'for sale'. It lists about 8 yet there are only 2 actual cars I think - the dealers are allowed to have sold cars remain at the top forever - at the potential expense of a private add being swept down the list of an actual car for sale.
The chaps at PH know full well they really could if they wanted put on a disclaimer saying something like 'any views expressed on these forums are not the view of the management or of Haymarket' etc etc.
People are quite willing to recommend others when they receive genuine good service so it should for balance work the other way too.
There was a an excellent thread a year ago or so with a chap on here who had an engine go pop on his 997 that was under warranty. He massively persevered and got a new engine even though the thread sailed at best very close to the wind with defamatory remarks to Porsche UK and Porsche AG, it was allowed to remain and the sort of litigation Porsche are capable of would I imagine dwarf any independent car dealer.
That said as the Mod chap posted...rules are rules I guess. You will probably get PM's from enough people as I did so the word spreads within the right circles anyway.

To be fair to them it's been proven in court on more than one occasion that such a statement is meaningless. You can't abdicate legal responsibility when you're acting as the publisher for libellous comments.berty37 said:

There was a thread in WF about this not too long ago. Unfortunately a lot of dealers stock is sent to us on a "feed", we delete the sold cars and when the feed sends again, it puts them back.We tell them they shouldn't be leaving sold cars listed and do act on reports when they're recvd but when the feed sends them over again, they come back.
You can report specific ads on a link in the advert.
