Spoke to a Porsche employee yesterday who rang trying to sell me a GTS. He was unaware that I now have a GT3. During our conversation he told me some GT3 facts. Number of 991 GT3's for the UK = 268. The last 30 or so built have the the new RS engine i.e. 505BHP ( that confirms what I was told whilst at Silverstone) . Before I get slated, I am only repeating what I was told.

GT3 best car I have ever owned driven, on the nos, I hear 167, plus the imports, 132 was always the 1st run, very low no's actually for sale.....pre fix 500 bhp when run in was quoted, I know a few that are above this post fix.....As for the RS engine, my understanding is that there are some internals in the post fix along with recalibration on the RWS, but its not the RS engine....

Interesting Rob. Thought the 132 figure was always too low.Still makes no difference in reality a totally brilliant car and well done for getting your hands on one!!
Thanks for that, to be honest I cannot believe our good fortune. I think it was a case of being in the right place at the right time. I ordered the car in August and left my Aston in P/ex. I then spent September and October fretting as to whether it was going to happen. To say that I am pleased would be an understatement. I have never driven anything like it though will happily admit I doubt that I will ever get anywhere near its limits. Car has now just turned 900 miles, without doubt it is getting quicker or is it me? When we were last out it was changing up at 7000rpm and on one occasion changed down from 7th to second. I am learning to approach a corner at a fair lick then treading on the brakes so that when I am on the corner it is in the right gear then straight back on the gas, a little waggle of the rear and away. Problem is all the time you just feel that in the right hands it would be much quicker again. Before anyone berates me were on a B road with good sight lines.I now have a better understanding why people mourn the passing of a manual gearbox. Or to put it another way they miss the involvement of changing gear. The thing is that there is no way a mere mortal could change as fast as a GT3 PDK. Interestingly as yet I have very rarely used the paddles which has surprised me as my Astons had them fitted and I always used them. I would admit their system does not bare comparison.
.
Good feedback. It happens to be one of my favourite 911's of all time. It looks awesome and just pretty much seems to excite everyone that drives it. Rather like the 997 GTS was at the time, it appears to be stonking value too and the fact this car has been pitted against the likes of the 458 and the McLaren 650 tells you something. The GT3 has in my mind always been their track/road car so was inevitable to me the car was going to at some point have a PDK box of some sorts and seems as though this PDK-S is a clearly perfect for the car. Happy motoring mate. (v envious!!)
Can't imagine its anywhere near 250+ especially having regard to the number last shown as licenced and the fact that most UKcars have now been delivered.
The 505bhp is entirely believable with the obvious performace of the new engine and Porsche typically conservative power figures. As for the RS engine, whilst the standard but tweaked GT3 unit was originally to be used, some now seem to think there will be a new ( racing development) engine for the RS.........

With such a proposed limited run of the RS surely it is unlikely that Porsche would produce a bespoke engine for the car. To be honest I cannot believe that they made any money out of the 991 GT3 and that they are busy developing their forced induction engine line up. I'll wager that the 991 GT3RS will boast 505 -510 Bhp, will have gone on a strict diet comprising the fitting of carbon fibre panels, lighter exhaust, have a reduced top speed allowing greater acceleration and the fitting of even more dramatic aero. It will be quicker than the GT3 though not by much, it's aim will be to be the ultimate track weapon something I am sure it will be. I am so looking forward to seeing it pitted against the 458S. Ive had 911's for 25 years (Inc GT3) and a good smattering of F cars too (Inc Scud) along the way but the 991 GT3 knocks them all into a cocked hat.The only car I have ever driven that made me think I might keep it forever.

The 458S v RS comparison will be very interesting bearing in mind how well the stock GT3 did.........probably a forgone conclusion especially if the P comes in at 'only' c £165k ish as expected.........
