and if so - which would you choose...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V7afNZsAvqI&fe...

The WRC has been a poorer place for lacking the great cars of old and this is exactly what is needed to inject that missing character. As the film say's it's just at the very beginning but imagine seeing privateer 430 Scuderia's / 458 Speciales / Heck why not throw in a 599 or a Lambo Superleggera...

But for starters, an opened piped 997 GT3 RS - yes please! 10 out of 10 to the owner...

I don't think that the Ferrari and Lamborghini are developed for this type of usage.
This is what makes the Porsche (imo) one of the best cars ever designed and built, it covers so many aspects and is truly one of the finest, if not THE finest sports car ever.

Interesting view and definitely some truth in there. I had a GT3 and loved it's duality... However smile There are a few Ferrari's out their designed for the job, namely this - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferrari_288_GTO
I would wholeheartedly agree it's a brave man with deep pockets that would want to rally anything Italian and non Stratos...

Imagine hearing an opened piped Fezza or Lambo through the Welsh stages, now that would be something...

Kudos to this guy for bringing out an FXX on a Targa competition, although end result is sub-optimal:

Indeed 308 GTBs were rallied successfully in the early 1980s, winning a number of rallies, most notably with Frenchman Jean-Claude Andruet at the wheel.

Of course, the Lancia Stratos was even more successful and had a Ferrari engine.

I get why you'd start with a Cup car but would a C4S or Turbo not be a better starting point to compete with the current breed of WRC car given 4WD? Especially when you consider all the modifications to the cup car needed anyway.

You could - BUT ITS A CUP CAR - lol... Cant really get a better base... With the Turbo it would just sound like a fart in the woods...

Just read an article on this car - the new FIA regulations that cover this class (R-GT) specify RWD. So even if starting with a 4WD car, it needs converted to RWD. The suggestion was that there were concerns about inadvertently making the class too competent such that it would murder the flagship WRC cars. Also mooted as the reason it was given a huge restrictor on its maiden rally so it only revved to 6500rpm (1500 short of the limit)...

Hell of a thing he's built though. Would love to see more of this R-GT class out on the stages.
