Would you use a sealant on the manifold gaskets and if so what is recommended?

I've never used any and not had any problems with sealing. Just make sure sure all surfaces are rubbed down and clean.

If you want to then you'll want RTV silicone.

I'm using it on my manifold faces and joints. Its high temp and also has the TVR letters in its name!

Rev uses silicone too but I worry if it is durable enough - I expect 20k out of my manifold gaskets as a minimum.

I use "exhaust assembly paste" which is a white sticky goo (Stu - down boy!) that solidifies slowly in air and expands a little on heating to seal any uneven gaps.

On my 450SE the heads were ported very wide so the walls that the gasket sealed against were very thin. The only way I could seal them properly was to double up with big bore gaskets. I also had to re-tighten the bolts after every heat cycle for a few weeks. smash
